My goal has always to be a one-stop shop for all my clients’ beauty and facial needs.
I am a family nurse practitioner and esthetician with 17 years experience in the aesthetic industry. I started my career as a makeup artist and medical esthetician, became a registered nurse and then an aesthetic family nurse practitioner. I live and work in Austin full time and have a facial room in Los Angeles that I visit two to four times per year.
I feel your pain with acne and aging! I struggled with acne in middle school! At age 35, I started to age!
My first lessons in skin care were my challenges with acne in middle school. I would walk to the old drug store in the Rice Village in Houston and purchase every acne product to find a fix. I have experienced what it is like to be seen by a dermatologist. My skin was raw, peeling and irritated with Retin-A, tazorac, benzoyl peroxide, topical antibiotics and prescription cream. Until I was seen by a skin care professional in high school and was introduced to three simple steps, my skin began to clear up.
I started to age at 35. I had all the access to injectables, but my face was still falling, my brows were dropping, which made my eyes smaller and eye lids crepe. This is when I did my own microneedling research on myself. I completed 3 microneedle treatments on myself within 3 months- and WOW- I was hooked. The skin firmed and tightened around my forehead, eyes, and my cheeks lifted, rosacea and fine lines improved. I declared that I am specializing in this- and I have done so. I promise you are in the best of hands when I do a microneedle on you.
I have always loved beauty products and treatments. My girlfriends in high school would joke how my bathroom looked like a display in a department store. In high school, I had parties called Facing Sunday, where I would give facials, nails and body treatments. After all these years in the industry, I am still SO PASSIONATE and I LOVE WHAT I DO! I tell clients that now that I have my NP degree, I have another 30 years, and then I’m done…..or so we will see. 🙂
Aesthetic Timeline for anyone who wants to become an esthetician or nurse! Don’t give up! Go as far as your can go in school on your timeline! I would work hard full time and save, then go back while working less hours to complete another degree.
